CNY, Tompkins county, surrounding area.

Currently, most trails are open with low snow and wind blown clear areas. Wooded trails are generally better with more snow in the higher elevations.

Dryden area is quite thin (bare spots) until you get further south into the state forests.
Groton and areas north and east have more good snow with lower elevations generally having less.

We got 4-6" of fresh powder on top of the ice yesterday which should make for some interesting handling situations.

Went for a ride today, trails around Groton and north are mostly loose powder with some drifting.
Heading south towards Dryden, the coverage is very thin on top of Ice/crust.
I did not continue farther than the VFW (rt 13) so I do not know how the trails are in the hills south of there.

6+" of new snow Sunday and it's settling nicely. Finally going to have a decent base on the trails this year.

Posted this last week but headed north last week end. We wan tto head your way next weekend.

We are going to run corridor 5 south and 5A back north around Skaneateles Lake sunday. The 08/09 trail maps show gas in Scott. Do you have any info on the location from the trail. Was down there last year and did not see any signs on the trail. We plan to use Moravia as a backup....

There is a spur off the trail to the gas station in Scott.
Moravia is easier to get to, but you can bypass dome of the poorer section around Cortland/Homer by taking the 56 out of Summerhill and routing through Groton to Dryden and then on through to Marathon via the Hammond Hill State forest.
As you pass through Groton, you will go right through a gas/food stop.

Give me a call when you get down this way too and I can guide you through some of it.

Getting a group together for next Saturday, probably meeting at Dryden VFW about 8am.
Be there or be square.

Was out this past weekend and the trails were pretty good and some even were groomed (sorta), traffic was fairly heavy as we got closer to Cortland (racer wanna be's taking their half out of the middle).
