The trails are finally open in our club's area but only on a limited basis. A big loop north and a smaller loop south are open. The northern loop heads out from Kirkland Lake up to Butler lake then west to Sesekinika and back. The south heads to Boston Creek, Larder Lake then back to KL.
Check out this site for trail status Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs.

The wife and I took a little Valentine's day ride to Larder Lake Sunday. Only 50 miles but all on 3" of fresh snow. That's as close as I get to riding in the POW!

Trails are still in great shape in the district. New Liskeard and south is getting a little thin compared to our local trails (Kirkland Lake). We took a little run south to Elk Lake, Earlton then back home and the trails were not too bad. Of course Kirkland Lake and to the north, the trails are in stellar shape. The hotels are booked solid with sledders and their tow rigs are spilling out into any available plowed parking areas - good to see people spending money and riding!

Thanks, we haven't had a Yamaha dealer closer than an hour away in a few years so there aren't that many around. We now have a pretty good dealer at Northern Freedom so the Yamaha blue is spreading. The red Vector on the bridge is my buddie's new ride.
Here's the sled I picked up for the kids and wife but I take it out often 'cause it's so good on gas and is a blast to drive.

It gets up to 135 km\hr (84mph) on the dream-o-meter and I haven't tried the GPS yet to confirm. That was on a groomed trail.
I also get twice the fuel mileage as my usual sled - a 1997 Polaris Ultra with a 680cc tripple.
For pics, I load them on Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and link from there.

The trails were in awesome shape once the groomers touched them up after all the snow we got late last week. I went on a short overnighter on the weekend with the family to Perry Lake Lodge east of Ramore. Trail L-91 up to the lodge wasn't groomed so riding the trail became a little tricky towards the end trying to stay on the trail despite the single tracks peeling off left and right. Thank the OFSC for trail signage.
Here is the view of the lake with our cabin/ cottage to the left:
Here we are taking a snack break on the way home:

Took a little 30 km ride after work today on the ring trail around town. The trails have been packed in some areas but mostly just the early riders picking a line between the rocks and fallen trees. Temps are below freezing for the next two weeks so this snow should stick, cross my fingers.
Groomers are set to head out this weekend so it can only get better.

I haven't updated for a while so here are some recent pictures from yesterday Feb 2nd.
Some groomed trail and some not. Cold enough in the morning at -35C (-31F) so I waited until it warmed up a little to go out.

Trails are in great shape despite the recent warm-up. Heading out for a 200km run Sat morning before the mixed precip hits. Lets hope it's 4" to 6" of snow instead of 1/2" of rain.
Last weekends overnighter to Cochrane was stellar. Love those long power lines but it's a good thing they're broken up with a few twisties in between.

Great riding in the Cochrane area this past April 6th.
A group of 11 sledders from all over Ontario gathered for a late season ride. I was part of the Saturday ride and we travelled from Cochrane west to Kapuskasing and Opasatika and back. A few side loop trails on the way back extended the ride to about 460 km (288 miles).
