Alaska Snow Conditions - How is Caribou Hills?
Here are some snow conditions in popular snowmachining areas. I am unable to find out how the trails at Caribou Hills are like. Does anyone know? Enjoy.
11/13 - Hatcher's Pass -Closed
*The Hatcher Pass East Management Area and Summit Lake State Recreation Site on the West side of Hatcher Pass are closed to snowmobiling due to insufficient snow cover. These areas will remain closed until there is a minimum of 30” of snow with firm base to protect the underlying vegetation.
11/14 - Turnagain Pass -Closed
* Currently20 Inches, 30 inches are required before being opened.
11/14 - Twenty Mile - Closed
* Reporting 15 inches.
11/14 - Placer River - Closed
* Reporting 15-20 inches.
11/13 - Petersville - Open
* 28 degrees and snowing as of 10:30 AM. Right here at the cabins we have received 6 new inches since last night and it’s still snowing heavy. Kenny Creek is also reporting 6 new inches with snow still falling and the Forks Roadhouse is reporting 12 new inches and it’s still coming, Yahoo!!!!!!!! The ponds are frozen solid you will still find some of the larger creeks with possible water movement (PLEASE USE CAUTION) at all water crossings. Most of them are passable you just need to be aware. It’s a beautiful winter wonderland here in Petersville
11/15 - Chugach State Parks - Closed
* All closed at this time
11/13 - Nancy Lake/Willow Area - Closed
* Willow received 4" of new snow this week leaving the snowpack averaging 8 to 10". The recreation areas remain closed to motorized use at this time due to insufficient snow to protect underlying vegetation.
11/14 - Denali State Park - Closed
* Denali State Park is closed to snowmobiling due to insufficient snow cover. Denali State Park will be closed for Motorized Use until adequate snow cover is reached. Along the Parks Highway Denali State Park snow depth is averaging 16 inches at the Alaska Veteran’s Memorial with depths increasing heading North and decreasing to the South. Denali State Park needs 24 inches of snow with a solid base to open for motorized use. This depth is required to protect the underlying vegetation.
11/9 - Eureka Lode - Open

NO NEW SNOW THIS WEEK. ALL MAIN TRAILS HAVE FROM 10" - 20" OF SNOW ON THEM. ACROSS THE STREET TOWARDS GOOBERS KNOB SEEMS TO HAVE MORE SNOW THAN BEHIND THE LODGE, TOWARDS MONUMENT. WE ARE JUST BEGINNING TO GROOM SOME OF THE TRAILS. JIM AND RYAN HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THE TUCKER & GETTING IT FINE TUNED FOR ANOTHER WINTER SEASON. OVER-FLOW IS OUT THERE THIS YEAR, SO PLEASE AVOID LAKES FOR THE TIME BEING. TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN CHILLY 10 ABOVE TO 10 BELOW. SO, IT CAN BE ESPECIALLY COLD WITH THE WIND CHILL FACTOR FOR SO EARLY IN THE SEASON.
WE HAVE NEW TRAIL MARKERS, PLEASE HELP US BY NOT RIDING OVER THEM, THEY ARE FOR EVERYONES SAFETY.
