chrisfarley, You say that your by the The Camp right? Well if you head south on 30 about 3 miles you come to a store on the left hand side called the Rivers Market. Well the river you just crossed prior to the store is the Titabawassee River. If you go another three miles there is a road on the left (I wanna say its name is River Road, gesh i lived there for 16 years and i cant remember!). Anyways there is a boat launch about a mile in where you can park your truck and trailer, drive down the ramp and you have access to about 16 miles of ice to ride. In fact you could ride back to The Camp, but i cant tell ya how to get there by trails, I wouldnt mind showin ya (when i get my sled registered). I was up there this past weekend, and the ice took a hard hit saturday night, it was all slush and i didnt see any sleds out there. Saturday though, they were out all day, they usually have drag races at Secord Lake Marina on the weekends. Also, If you ride the ice up to Wildwood, you can take Wildwood Road past Three Rivers and hit the Sterling Truck trail and ride over 75 to sterling, you could also ride the dirt bike trails that are south of the sterling truck trail and head down to 61. I have also ridden to Wooden Shoe. Now granted none of these trails or the ice is groomed and you might run into trucks and dirt bikes, but as long as there is good snow it is a good ride. You can get gas at Wildwood, Sterling, and if you cross the bridge on 61 you can get gas in Wooden Shoe. Let me know if you plan on riding that weekend, maybe i can get the wife to let me register the sled. I hope then the DNR wont be out, cuz for 1 ride a year, i would hate to get a trial permit, for trails that the money doesnt even go to.

ok... maybe mother nature (MN) has a plan to get back on track!!
when i turned in last night it was snowing/sleeting/THUNDERING... went to bed frustrated at MN (not Minnesota mother nature)
well woke up and we got about 3" of wet ass snow! aahhhh the silver lining here... i figure since we had NOTHING... it's probably the best kind of snow to REmake a base because it is so wet.... we are supposed to be cold for the next 7 days.. it's a good set up for anything else we get ontop of it!!
i'll post a pic when it gets brighter.. it does look cool... but the trees are sagging!!

Scratch that!! looks to be about 5" of this stuff!! i'm headed out in an hour to take a ride.. good base though... but needs to get cold now to keep it! this stuff is not very good for multiple passes, pretty easy to burn through, but i'll take it..... "tread lightly base"

I have rode the Titabawasse river many of times! It's fricken great to go out and open it up! Yes, they do have races there on weekends. Years ago, I was at one of the races right in front of Secord Lake Marina, and they decided to build a bon fire on the cement with a bunch of wooden pallets. They also had a lunchin at the Marina, and thank god that the dinner bell rang! As soon as everyone went in to eat, the cement exploded from the heat of the fire! Blew a hole right in the ground. The sound was huge! Chunks of cement went flyin! Cement is a conducter of moister. When frozen and then heated up quickly, bang! Not good! Glad no one was around the fire when this happened. What a site from the river!

ok... finally we are putting down some powder... after the last 4-5 days have been some wet snow.. but good snow for a base... last night we got about 2" of powder...

there really is more than 6" but i wanted to take the same spot that i did when mother nature kicked are a$$(above pictures)... i went on my "after i clear the driveway ride"20min.. this morning and i would have to say it was closer to 8-9"... but i'll stay consistent on the picture location....

ihave to say i didn't want to bore people with "west branch snow report" so didn't want to keep posting... but i will now...

i'm going to go meet some friends for lunch... but it's only a mile or 2 away and i won't be on any "official trail" so i won't be able to give you a trail report...

you should have some good snow up there.. watching the radar last night there looked to be some really good snow coming down from graying to gaylord and about a 75mile radius from that line.... should be a good conditions now for TUT festival!!

it was good to get some fluffy stuff again....
