Central NY Trails

I looked through the most recent threads and did not see one for the CNY Area. I would like to hear from anyone riding the Onieda Lake Region how are the trails looking so far this year. I know the Southern trails don't open until after hunting is done. Hope to hear from you all soon have fun be safe

NY State trails will all be open on the 19th. (snow willing)
We are in fairly good shape here and we just have some final signing to do. Work party on the 15th to finish out.

I thought the trails opened after Hunting season was over. So if I was to ride now (not on private property of course) could I get in trouble? I mean If you look the trail map of the northern state. C4 along the old railroad bed goes right by my house and has been packed with sleds since last week.

Some sections may be useable, but they are not open officially.
If someone has an accident now, they trail insurance will not cover them and they could be charges with trespass as well.
Best to stay off trails (unless it's a private trail on land you own or lease) and even the big fields.
We had several complaints from land owners already because the trails are not open yet.

thanks for the info I'll stick to my own land. All these years if there was snow I would always head out the day after hunting. Ahh My sled won't be ready for another week anyhow.

Well had a great ride saturday but its all gone to heck now. The rain came Sunday morn and washed all the fun away. And now with temps in the 50's theres sure to be some good water crossing adventures. Hopefully everything will be back to norm by the weekend. So I guess now is as good of time as any to tune up the bike.

Snow is falling all over the State. This will be a great weekend for riding. After this storm moves through the lake Effect Machine is going to pick up probably blasting the Hill with another 4' of fresh powder. I'm suddenly feeling very sick I think I need to leave work early today!!!!!

We may be even getting enough here to reopen the trails again. I'll keep an update of snow depth later.

RJGleason,

Are the trails open now. I am planning a day off tomorrow (I have a really bad case of the sniffles)and was going to ride from town of Maine out your way to Cortland.

Trails are open. minimum of 2-3" base and higher elevations have as much as a foot.
Use caution as the base is kinda thin mostly and you could have a problem with hidden obstacles.
Consider it "early season" conditions.

Can yo make a day of it on Saturday?
A bunch of us are meeting at the Dryden VFW at 9 am for a day of riding.
