Tipp Of The Mitt '06-'07

Wells fellow sledders. It's finally here. We got dumped on last Friday, Saturday, and yes even Sunday. We have about 22" Of fresh snow to ride on. It's nothin but powder right now, but hey. WHO CARES!!! I'm ridin. The trails are in good shape. There are a few thing that everyone should know. There's a new section of trail opened up from Indian River to Cheboygen. There are restriction however. There's a posted 35mph limit, and the trail will be closed from Midnight to 8AM. Please follow these rules. Everyone has worked very hard to get this stretch of trail open for all of us to enjoy. Secondly, there's a section of trail71 that has been rerouted coming into Alanson so keep your eyes open. It get's pretty congested in this area. I hope that everyone has a good year, and stays safe out there.

Our sleds are in the trailer waiting to go. Thanks for the update. I think there's going to be some pre-RIDES coming up before our Feb. RIDE. Over X-Mas break should be a good time also! Mouse, you got the hamburger helper ready?

The Harbor Springs snowmobile club did the first grooming Monday night. The trail are in pretty decent shape aside from the usual bumps, but alittle more snow will cure that. We have a total of about 2ft. of snow right now as I type, and it's still falling. Supposed to warm up this w/e alittle. That will help create a good base for the trails. I haven't really had a chance to get out much this year yet beins that I have a job now...lol, but I have put about 50-60mi on so far. I IRS give me a jingle on my cell if you come up. I hope Jr can get out of work.

Well folks, it's been raining since Sunday. Thew temps have been atleast 15- 20 degrees above normal for this time of year. The trails are pretty much junk. IRS, I would save the gas, and make plans when we get some more snow. I'll let y'all know when the white stuff flies again.

It's snowing again. It started lastnight. We've only gottin about 2-3" though. It's very promising here. Maybe hitting the trails this w/e if the weather hold as it is.

It's been snowing on and off for the past week, but still not enough snow IMO for good riding, but it is ridable. North of Pellston is the best ridable snow. I went out Saturday night to check, and got stuck in a huge drift. I tried to flag the groomer down to give me a hand, bt he kept right on movng down the trail. What a peckerhead. I was PO'd. Needless to say I had to leave my sled for the night. the net day I went back and retrieved my sled. I was heading down the trail to Alanson, and was passing 2 oncoming sleds. the seond sled kicked up a rock, and I took a direct hit to my visor, and cracked it to crap.

I'm guessing that this coming w/e will be better for ridiing. I'll try to give anthr report later this week.
