And then the Bad, but I get to fix that lack of an engine with a good used engine on Saturday!

Ya, it will be a bit of work. At least the engine I am buying is ready to go, I dont have to rebuild it. Bolt it in, and go from there.

Well I went to the local snowmobile wrecker today and got my motor for my Viper. 2400KMs on it. They were awesome, and threw in a bunch of free stuff (New spark plugs, power valve gaskets, etc) They were great to deal with the whole way along, and I will deal with them again, as I have also dealt with them alot in the past.
If anybody in Ontario or upper US needs any sort of snowmobile or ATV part, call the guys at Snowline in Thorndale(London), Ontario and they will try to help you! They also ship all over Canada.
Now I just have to get the motor in the sled......

Yes, they are awesome to work with. As long as you know what you are looking for, or even can explain what it does/is, they can figure it out for you. I have heard of guys complaining about them, but that is in cases where the person looking for parts is an idiot.(example, wanted a complete engine and being outraged that it didnt come with carbs, clutch, wiring, etc) As you may know, when buying a "complete" engine, you keep your old stuff off your engine.
They were also the cheapest price for that engine that I could find of anyplace in Ontario, Manitoba, Quebec, New York, Ohio, Michigan, Maine, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Washington state. Yes, I did call approx 125 places, lucky I have unlimited long distance! In all of those places, only 3 of them had the engine I was looking for, or at least a complete one, and 2 of 3 were CRAZY in the asking price. Snowline here in Ontario, like 35 minutes from my place were the only sane ones.

OK, just an update on the Viper.
I am away at school, so my dad is going to put the motor back in the machine. He got the motor all ready, and has set it in the chassis. I think he said he got it partially bolted in/hooked up. He is just working on it in his spare time after work and such. He says probably have it pretty much done and ready to attempt fire up by about next weekend as long as his weeknights stay free.

The old motor was pooched, and when you buy a complete used motor off of a scraper or used dealer, they normally want the old motor on exchange. It at least saves you some coin trading them the old one.
My motor had a twisted/scored crank, scored/cracked case, centre cyliner/piston/rod all needed replacing as well as one of the other pistons having a crack in it.

Ya, I would agree. The motor I bought has about 2400KM(1500Miles) on it. Came from a sled that was smashed in the backend. I called around, and this was an extremly tough to find motor. Luckily the one at the place near my house was cheapest, even of the places in the US. I payed $1200 for my replacement motor..... I found another one in Upper NY that had 6000 miles on it, and the guy wanted $2300 US for it!
