True dat. It all depends on your application. Not to change subjects, but my dad had a Nordic 399, and that thing was so wide and heavy (18" track) that it couldn't get out of it's own way. It was wide so it would float. But it was heavy too. And it didn't have enough traction to push the snow. Put a little 340 out there, and even thought it sinks (15" track), it's lighter. So the increased traction allows it to power the bow up over the snow and break a trail.
Go to a packed trail, and it's a whole different story. Like you said, it just depends on where you are and what you need.
