True dat. It all depends on your application. Not to change subjects, but my dad had a Nordic 399, and that thing was so wide and heavy (18" track) that it couldn't get out of it's own way. It was wide so it would float. But it was heavy too. And it didn't have enough traction to push the snow. Put a little 340 out there, and even thought it sinks (15" track), it's lighter. So the increased traction allows it to power the bow up over the snow and break a trail.

Go to a packed trail, and it's a whole different story. Like you said, it just depends on where you are and what you need.

hahaha when your floating on a big tires then your like a snowmobile theresfull tracktion your driving like 30km/h or more...

and on big tires u get MORE traction on snow... but LESS on ice... on snow u want big tires....

think about it this way. your snowmobile has a wide belt right?? would u like it to be less wide to get "traction".... on snow theres ALWAYS better to have big tires... on ICE u want small tires

I think that most of the people in "this" country would concur that narrow tires are better on snow covered roads. Not much call for flotation tires. That's why I have a sled!
On a side note... Jon Pall Sigmarrson... One heckuva Strongman.

Interesting photo of the 2 sleds on a trailer with what looks like ice behind the one on the right, but yet parked beside a boat????
