Bullet Cam Test Run #1
Just picked up a new toy & thought I'd give er' a quick trial on the local trails. My compression software sucks a$$ for the web, but the read deal video on the TV is frigen awesome. Only beef I have is with the audio, which really isn't that important. Currently I have the mic in the camera bag, wrapped in a towl & inserted in a backpack, very muffled.
Oh well here is a test run let me know what ya think.

So that's the bullet cam, huh? I heard a couple of bad reports on them last year. Must have improved them quite a bit! How much are those things anyway?

One of my buddies is very close friends to the actual owner of http://www.bulletcam.com ... Long story short I plan to run a "Chase Cam / Speed Cam" service this summer at all of my track days & race weekends. Believe it or not people will pay big bucks to see themselfs in action. I've seen chasecam services at $100 for 12 minutes & people will pay it no problem.?.
Anyway for a basic package for camera, battery pack, all Surface Mount, integrated microphone and (2) extra Lexan lens protectors runs you about $159. The catch is to capture this video you need a camera that has AV input & not needed but much recommended LANC control(to stop & start recording & turn on & off the camera.) I went a little on the high buck end of the spectrum with Sony and found a awesome deal on a Sony Handy Cam / Digital Video camcorder with all features I needed for $499.
Unfortunately watching it on the computer does no justice since you loose so much quality with compression & file size. On a 36 inch TV it looks just like Digital Video & have no pixalization. Can't wait for next year to get some video out west, should be a great way to collect those memories better!!

Cool! I just bought a Sony Handycam with the features you mentioned. Looks like I might be buying a bulletcam....

The bullet cam actually feeds through your camcorder by the AV input/output slot. So if your camera has life & tape you can record as much as you want. The bullet cam itself runs of of AA's & they last a good 12+ hours. Thats why I got the LANC control, so you can turn the camera on & off with the touch of a button & save juice.
