That picture is too cool...I just bought a 2000 700 rmk and I want to pull the skis up like that!!!! I just got a set of twin pipes and can off e-bay and I figure the next thing will be a boost bottle and power packs. What kind of mods did you do and am I on the right track?

I WANT TO PULL WHEELIES!!!!!!!!

Peace...Bruce

The track has 144 chisle pick's,just for the ice.The twin pipes will help you out alot.Forget the boost bottle I found out all this does was lean the motor out.I have twin PSI pipes on mine,Wiseco piston's,I put the highest compression head's I could find on it(SLP 9000 feet),Boysen reed cages, carburator work, changed the gearing.I also put a Holtzman in the air box so I wouldn't have to change the jet's so much.Digipack gauges to monitor the egt's and I put that light weight brake rotor on as well.I've done alot of clutch work and found out what really work's for my set up.You can have all the horsepower in the world and if your clutching is off it won't matter.I've beaten many a 800,900,1000 because they didn't know what to do for the clutching. This engine combo made 168 hp on an engine dyno(this was tunning it for max hp,I actually burned a piston on the dyno.I dialed it back a little for racing)The only bad thing about all that compression(190 psi per cylinder) is I have to run 100 octane fuel, but I had to do it so I can launch like the valve's motor's do,otherwise they were getting me out of the hole.I though about putting the valve cylinder's on it this year but I haven't decided yet.As far as porting I haven't really messed with the cylinder's,I want to keep the low end grunt. That's where I usually win is on the starting line,I can hole shot the bigger sled's pretty good so they have to chase me down before we get to the 1000 ft finish line. They'll be catching me but I'll cross first. Here's a pic of the motor.

Just picked up a 2000 ZL550 last Feb. I've only had it out in the snow a few times. I really enjoy running along the hedge drifts. I know the ZL550 is a "lightweight twin", but I have a hard time getting the front off the ground! What did you do to yours to lighten up the front end? Did you adjust the front track suspension limiter strap? If so, which way (tighten/loosen)? I find that my other sled (440 Panther long-track) jumps like a rabbit. You can get that thing flying off the smallest drifts, while the 550 seems to drop like a rock. Something must be out of adjustment...

From Stock, right from the place i could do wheelies just on the lift off, try standing up, and putting ur feet on the back handle, that'll probably do it.

The sucker is picked, but I've never tried standing back very far. We're supposed to get 4-6" in the next few days...

We'll see how she does.

BTW- how did you like your ZL550?

i musta got a glitched one, it never started in low temps, we tried absolutly everything,we would take over 2-3 hours trying to start it. we kept it for 1 season, then sold it.

when it worked it was a great sled, good power, easy to control.

Sorry to hear you got a bum one. I would have sold it too! Mine isn't a problem. I've started it in -15F easy. Just touch the key, and it goes. Was yours EFI or carb? Mine's carb.
