Snowmobile pics from Sweden

Hi, I hope this is OK, posting pics from events in other countries ... just thought I'd show a few of my pictures from the recent world championships here in Malå, northern Sweden.

We had two competitors from the USA, firstly Brett Bender :

And secondly, Matt Judnick :

There are more pics available on my website from this and other events (in English) : The Photo Album

Thanks, this was my second outing with a second hand Nikon D80 I am in the process of acquiring, (have been using a Pentax *ist DL up till now with Sigma lenses). Lens was a Tamron 28-200 3.8-5.6.

A couple more :

Peter Ericsson from Skellefteå, who won the World Title :

Do you find a big difference going from 6MP to 10MP? The Sigma and Tamron lenses are about the same quality I think unless one was the professional line and the other the regular line of lenses.

You did a great job with the panning as well. The subjects are tack sharp where the background is blurry.

@Ultrafrozen : yes you can crop a bit more without exposing the details (or lack thereof ..) As far as I know Sigma's lenses tend to give slightly softer results, and that seems to be the case for me as well, but I'n no pro by any means

The other big plus was being able to get more pics in a row before the buffer was filled (6 as opposed to 3 with the Pentax), even if the fps is almsot the same (2.7 vs 3)

Thanks for all your comments but there are a lot of people taking these kinds of pics here so it's not that usual to get pics published, though I have had some pics in one magazine, covering some of the veteran events we have over here.

Can you guys recommend any US magazines, esp if they have websites, would be interesting to see what's happening over there, esp in terms of racing, and also what kind of pics they like. I have heard from one photog on another forum that many mags don't like panning shots b/c they feel the blurry bg will give people a headache ...

Not sure about magazines but you can look up one of the Canadian race organizations: CSRA, Canadian Snowcross Racing Association. Kirkland Lake (my hometown) is on the circuit and is one of only two CSRA venues that holds night racing. CSRA Snowmobile Snowcross Racing 2005/2006 I had a look at the site and there doesn't seem to be very many pictures but it's a start.
