Question Helmet Camera Advice...

I was wondering if anyone here had any experience using helmet/ wearable camera's. I don't really have any experience using video recording technology. But I would like something that is durable, lightweight, and easy to use. I have been eying the Anchos Helmet Cam, the GoPro Helmet Hero, and the VholdR.

Any thought???

If you don't get any help here, check out motorcycle sites. I have a few friends that use them on long trips. They set them to regular intervals and then use the best pics. See if the models you are looking at have a wireless remote to trigger the camera from a hand held or glove mounted fob.

Snowmobile Helmet Cameras

Having a weatherproof camera is important if you are going to be riding in varying weather conditions or snowy terrain. I got a VIO-POV from ActionVideoCams.com The VIO Pov has a wireless remote control for easy recording. It makes it much easier to record when I'm riding! What a difference it makes compared to the cheap cameras I've tried. Plus, I called their toll free number and got a even better deal than the price they advertised on their website.

After doing a bit of research, I decided to go with the VholdR. I must say I'm really happy with my purchase for the winter season! Let's just call it my holiday gift to myself

They also have it on sale thru amazon.com for $299 (normally $350) - I'm guessing that's their holiday (and/or state-of-the-economy) price!

I bought a VIO POV-1 last year and am very pleased with it. It's durable, light, waterproof, and easy to carry. VIO recently upgraded their firmware and quadrupled the recording capacity. I can't find any faults. The camera is separate from the recorder and is barely noticeable on your helmet. And the included editing software is easy to use and also allows you to share videos on the web by posting them to the VIO server. Video quality isn't great when e-sharing but it isn't awful, either.

I've only used mine in my airplane so far. I'll start some snow-go videos as the Alaskan days get longer. Maybe a combo ski flying and snow-go video. And some Arctic Man footage from both the tow sled and the skier. We'll see.

Helmet Camera Central is the best source of gear and information that I've found. That's where I bought my system.

The Helmet Camera to Mount and Shoot

I still believe the VIO is the best helmet camera system for your helmet with the most easy recording setup available. With one cable and the DVR for instant play back, how can you go wrong with the VIO. I even ordered a second one for my best friend for Christmas and ActionVideoCams gave me a holiday discount and free shipping. They definitely took care of me since I am a repeat customer. I would recommend the VIO and ActionVideoCams.

Snow Helmet Camera

After going through a few helmet camera kits (borrowed and purchased) I found the cam for me (by adreanaline systems)

ATV MOUNTED CAM KIT SPORT I - OFF ROAD SUPERLOADED - SONY 580 EXVIEW CAMERA AdrenalineCamera.com

It is meant for ATV but works great on the snowmobile.
You can mount the helmet camera on your Snowmobile or your helmet.
The picture is great and can take a real beating.
I was using my sony camcorder but moved up to their DVR 200 handheld. It takes the 8gb sd card. It is very light weight.

They have a new cam i'm saving my pennies for; the helmet cam v 2.0. You will need to buy the mounts separately but it being sound integrated cuts down on the wiring:

I bought the Gopro Hero camera, and ithink that one is one of the best. Just go to youtube and find each camera your looking for, then you already have an idea of what they'll be like.

My friend let me borrow her helmet cam when I went to SnowBird last year. I finally purchased my own and love the Vholdr Contour cam. It records in High Definition and is really simple to use. It was so much cheaper than some of the other cameras out there comparable in price and has the awesome feature of HD. I would highly recommend the Vholdr Cam. My girl Misty got her's from ActionVideoCams website so that's where I got mine too. They were fast to ship and it was free shipping. I would definitely use this cam to get the full view and scope of any trip you plan on going this year.
