Yea, if I had not seen the guy ahead of me make it I probably would not have tried it either as that river looked mighty cold. Someone said about just putting your front skis in the water and pinning it, but my throttle is not that responsive. I went into the water about 30 MPH, with my sled and for the distance I should've went in about 50because if it was any wider I would've been pulling my sled out. My track just caught the bank and pulled me out.

I don't think I could take the risk of sinking my sled. Too much money invested to be pulling it out of the water. Also I don't know about any other places but here in NY the DEC will fine you for pollution if your sled goes in a lake or river. So picture that your sled falls through the ice, You freeze your butt off trying to get out of the water. If you live to tell about it they give you a ticket for over a $1000.00.

i did some water once.. it was about 40-50 feet long i was not going to do it but once my buddy with a 340 fan did it i had to!! it wasn't really that hard or nothing all you have to do it keep up your speed and lean back a bit. actually when i hit the water the front end shot right up and i basically hung the ski's the whole way, i would do it again.

on our lake here the only restaurant on the water is right next to a big open section of water where a river comes in... perfect spot to skip across a little water, or a lot - guys will run the river down under a bridge and meet the land on the other side - about 500 yards, usually. People do it all the time down there! There are always tracks leading across the water, you gotta watch if you're just following some tracks at night, not to go over if you don't want to. I've done it a few times, it's fun but very high risk... the more powerful sleds can just cruise indefinitely but a little hiccup and you're done...

I can't bring myself to do that! I don't like the thought of a diver having to go get my sled for me.... Not much for ponds to practice on around here. Only mountain lakes that are frozen solid. For me......Snow = sled. Water = boat or jet ski!
Does look like fun though! (If you have the Cahoneys)

I did some water today... the lake here was really good about a week ago and then we got a thaw and it went all slush on the ice instead of snow..
Yesterday i went out and did about 20 feet of water that was open infront of a boat ramp and then once you got out 100 feet it would be safe so you could turn around and then cross the water again to get back to the land. last night we got about 2 feet of snow so the whole lake was water and slush so this morning i went out and after the 20 feet of water there was another 40 feet of slush! so me and my buddy ran that all day.. it was fine as long as you didnt stop!
Connor.

Ya water and winter do not mix well. I'll cross little streams but never open water. I couldn't imagine loosing my sled in 17' of water. And then having to pay a diver to get it and then the DEC Fines.

He didnt have to pay any fines we did exactly tell any one about it the diver only charged him 100 bucks, to go down and hook it up.
