about the riser: to see how big you can go, cut a block of wood however big you think you want the riser (maybe start with 4 inches if you don't want to redo cables) and stick it in the spot where the riser would go. then make sure all the cables are not stretched, turn the handles all the way one way and the other, and if it's too tight where it interferes with it's proper operation, then that is too big. so cut off an inch or whatever and keep trying till you find the right height.

"Pro-Taper" bars will require some sort of adapter clamps. Fly Racing sells "adapter risers" from 2 to 6 inches that also convert your bar clamps to oversize Pro-Taper (1-1/8") clamps.

Rox also sells a riser that converts from 7/8 to 1 1/8 bars. They are probably the cheapest way to go if you want to put an 1 1/8 bar setup on your sled. As far as how much of a rise you can put on there without getting longer cables or extensions, it depends on the sled.

I dont think its easier, but its 100x more comfortable to stand and ride with a riser.
