Veteran Sleds : Snocross

The first snocross of the season, with quite a good turnout and plenty of action!

Must be that the old Yamihammers were a popular machine back then, lots of them represented.

Yes Yamahas are very well represented on the retro circuit here, except for some of the mod classes which tend to be Polaris dominated ...

Aduck : what is Beater X? Some kind of retro series in the states?

Beaters are cheap old sleds that you use/abuse and throw away.

That Nordik with what looks to be twin pipes is a beast!

When in doubt, throttle out!

The Yamahas seem to be the sled of choice back in the day. My dad and grandpa and everyone else in the family used to run cats, and then they decided to try a yamaha and never looked back. My dad used to have a 340 enticer that all he ever did to it was ride and beat the crap out of (thats how he treats most of our stuff which is why I try not to let him ride my 600). My dad ended up getting out of snowmobiling and just left the enticer sit outside and dry rotted all the rubber and vinyl parts so he sold it to the parts yard when I was too young to be into snowmobiling and fixing stuff up. But anyway, those are some very cool pictures and that looked to be a good race.

Kind of a shame that Yamaha is not as dominant in modern racing ... but the old ones are still fun

The Nordik lost his hood just prior to this pic, flew up past the guys face after a jump!
