i had an identical sled as that yellow one. I can't find any pictures but it was a formula something and has a 377cc motor or something along those lines.

The 7500/7500 Plus is a twin-piped 340cc L/C the rest of the family is the 5500/5500MX's running a F/C Type 503 with 496cc's, the 6500 was replaced by the 7500 (I think in '78-'79) and used either the F/C 496cc or the 340cc L/C depending on which year or if it was a Plus model or not, and the big daddy 9500/9500Plus using one of three motors(I think) late 70's to earlier 80's are a 440cc L/C twin with twin pipes, the same L/C twin Type 462 4??cc from the SS25 and I think the last year('84) saw the big type 534/537's 521cc L/C twin found in later Formulas.

Hmm never see any Formulas use anything not L/C, was it the newer Formula 380 Fan or maybe an SS? I have only heard of a few F/C ones to date and it is usually the 496cc Type 503.

It was a power formula supossed to represent HP and theoretical top speed, 7500 was 75 HP up to 75Mph, 5500 is 55HP up to 55MPH and so on and so forth.

'84 Skidoo SS25???
I jsut saw your first post here after looking at these pictures of this salvage yard in Upstate NY, and I felt like I had seen the sled you were talking about. So I looked again at the salvage yard pics, and lo and behold, there appears to be one of these SkiDoos right in the lower right hand corner of the picture, which is here:
http://www.snowmobileforum.com/misc-...pstate-ny.html
I don't know if you're looking for parts or for the whole sled, but I just thought I'd mention it.

Found a reasonable SS25!!!
I found an eBay seller selling an SS25 off of eBay(a footnote on his other sled for sale there) and I can pick it up when I go out east in Nov.

Got a SS25
Hi, I have an 1984 SS25. I tried to post a picture of it but the file size was to large, sorry. Anyway, the SS25 is SkiDoo's 25th anniversary edition, (the only year they made that name for the sled) For when you go looking for parts, I have been told the 1985-86 Formula SS is pretty much the exact same sled minus the anniversary decals. The one thing about the SS25 is parts are hard to find. The engine is a Rotax 462CC Liquid. Runs great but do yourself a favor and make sure the screws for the primary clutch balance weight (looks like a blank starter ring gear) are on tight and do it often. I had mine come loose and when they do the weight shears right off. I am still looking for a primary clutch inner (engine side) half and new blank balance ring. It will run without it but I don't like the idea of not having it on. When I get it fixed (hopefully soon) I plan to put lock-tight on those little bastered screws and check them before every ride. Also, be sure to check the exhaust pipe aft attachment spring mounted bolt (its under the retaining clip on the back part of the exhaust) if it gets loose and your front bolt (by the tie rod ends) is loose or the hole that the front bolt mounts through in the exhaust is widened by wear (which it probably is) the exhaust will tend to crack on the neck just about where the exhaust manifold ends in side the exhaust pipe. If you need parts for the SS25 you bought I can give you a few web sites I have had luck with and hopefully you can do the same as you start wrenching on yours. Congrads on your ebay purchase. They should someday be a collectable sled.

I have heard of cooling issues Esp. in marginal snow conditions due to having a single cooler in the tunnel VS' two found in other Ski-doo liquids at the time, I suspect the chassis is closest to the Safari's of the era and I know that the motor is shared with the Formula MX/LX's etc(just not the Plus), and the later Safari Grand Luxes used that motor too.

In 77-79(RV style) and '80 until '84 they came with a 496cc type 503 fan cooled twin in the 5500/5500MX, and a 336cc type 354 L/C for the 340 in the 6500/7500Plus and a 436cc type 454 L/C for the 440 in the 9500Plus flavor and '83/84 saw the 9700Plus with the 521cc 534 type motors, dispute that with any Doo-minded person, I know my Doo-Facts on these models, it's just that the 7500's were overshadowed by the bigger 9500's and there aren't as many of them around then or now.
