Question About Putting a Liquid Cooled Engine in an Fan Cooled Chassis

Kind of a long story but here goes..

I recently wrecked a 95 formula sls and tore up the belly pan. hood, all of the steering linkage and so on. Anyway, I found a 95 formula sl with a blown motor which is in excelent condition. My question is this. Would it be easier to take the motor and radiator and what ever else form the liquid cooled sled and put it in the fan cooled chassis, or would it be easier to swap out the belly pan, steering linkgage and all of that stuff? I cant imagine it is too hard to put the radiator and what ever in the other sled but I have never done it.

Has anyone done this before? and advice?

Thanks
Don

Either way would be a kinda difficult task. Installing the heat exchanger in the tunnel would be the hardest part, then you'd have to run the hoses, make sure the wiring is the same, etc. It's very do-able, probably easier than doing the belly pan/steering swap. Just make sure stuff is the same between the two first.

I tore in to the two over the weekend. It is going to be super hard to get the heat exchanger out but i am certain it can be done. i have 2 complete sleds so the wiring and the hoses are going to be simple as well. thanks for the reply. I'll post back after the task is complete
