600HO vs 600HO

What is the difference between the "new" Polaris 600HO and the 600HO in my 04 Summit?
Is it just another Rotax engine in sheepolaris clothes? I know the PERC system they use is on loan from Bombardier, I wonder what else they are using?
If you cant beat them, make your own REV!!

there motors are a spiting image of each other, now that rotax uses reeds, they also both use pressure oppereated power valves.

exactly.. a spitting image. I know the limitations of a 600 stock are going to be about 120-125 hp range. They both have the same output. Both use reeds, both use power valves, BRP and Polaris obviously had a marketing agreement to use the "600HO" designation. I know Polaris lost a firm foothold on the market with the intro of the REV platform. Obviously, if you cant beat them, copy them as close as possible.
I was just curious, I know the rest of the 700/800 and now the new 900 are Liberty's own mills, but that 'HO' was buggin me.

I wonder if anybody at Polaris would admit to an honest engine copy.

what you dont understand is that HO is simply a name, like 2500 HD is to F 250 heavy duty. to get techincal brp copyed polaris, rotax reed motors were not bought in untill recently, but cat, pol, and yam have been useing reed motors since the early 90s.

Ive heard so many stories about how good rotax motors are, but why did rotax ditch the rotory motor in favor of a reed motor?

The rotary motor is an excellent design, but the reed motor is considerably lighter and has better throttle response. Probably why they went to it.

They went from rotary to reed to get the engine lower in the frame to lower the center of gravity. And H.O isnt just a name BRP uses a different timing map, reed spacers and a better clutch setup on their H.O models. And their 600 H.O uses the series 3 700 and 800 crank and crankcase with a better port design and is in no way the same as the non H.O 600.

Ya so that's their HO but like its still just a name. I have a friend with some sort of 500 HO atv, and i know someone with a truck thats like a 1500 HO or something. As far as I know all it means is high output.
