Picked up used 86 safari. Don't have manual yet. Drive gear box has plug rather than dip stick. How full do I fill and with what type oil? Thanks Ed

is there a # stamp on the cast?
call the skidoo dealer and ask them how much to put in.
I use MAXIMA chain case lube, its about 5 bucks a 16OZ bottle.

Is there another plug on the side cover of the chaincase, lower than the fill tube? If memory serves, some of the sleds had a plug that you pulled out, filled thru the fill tube until the lube started running out of the plug hole. Replace the plug again after filling, of course

I check my case every 300 mi or so. It only takes a second, and it let me know my shaft seal was leaking last year! I use Klotz synthetic, much less wear!
