Hi guys I have a 92 mach 1 I bought a seat from an older mach 1 probably an 89 or 90, and it doesnt fit, the gas tank is too big, I looked online and everyone is saying theres 2 types of gas tanks on these sleds, the one piece with the seat or the detached one, how do I know which one I have on my sled, the older seat covers the tank the same as the original one did but it s about an inch and a half lifted off the tunnel where it should be sitting at the tank, any help would be appreciated. thanks

The one piece literally covers the gas tank as well, the detatched one ends right behind the tank. I think the old Mach 1 (88-89) were slightly shorter tunnels. Can you redrill the tunnel at the back for the new seat?

The tunnel is the same lengts, bolt holes even line up, the problem is my tank kinda bubbles upwards where the one my new seat fits on must have a dip in it, like i said at the tank, the seat is an inch and a half off the tunnel, it doesnt cover the bottom part of the tank. My original seal is pretty much like the one in your profile picture, the one i have now is also a bit thinner with less padding. Im maybe thinking of buying a seat cover on ebay but I want to make sure I get the right one. Also my original toolbox on the back has one pieve of plastic that slides into a slot then you flip the button to lock it, the seat i bought has 2 little twist locks on it and velcro all around, hope this helps you to picture what im trying to deal with here. I had an 88 Formula MX with that exact seat. Is something warped?

No nothing is warped, it just looks like the gas tank is bigger on this sled than the older type, the older tanks seem to slope downwards towards the rear, mine is flat

try this because i just had an issue thats about the same as yours....i found mine was up a bit when i put on my seat after reupholstering it....i found that the wire loom for the fuel gauge/tailight was getting caught on the bar that slides under the tank.....worth a look.
