ignition problem NEED HELP

I have a 98 Grand Touring 700 SE triple and ran good all weekend until last night. Started up and stalled shorlty after and now have no fire to spark plugs. dont know where to check next. Does have the D.E.F.F. Are these switches known to go bad ? There is fire coming out of magneto.

They are known to have dirty contact issues and need to be cleaned periodically.

Clean the metal part on the tether.

Are you aware of the inherent ignition problems the 98 triples had?

After moving the harness, cdi and v-reg from the belly to above the engine, trouble shooting is something like this:

Kill, key and Dess switches/circuits.
Wires and connections. (Includes plug wires.)
Stator. (You said yours checks out?)
CDI.
HV coils.

Got a manual? If you need 1, ask.
