I have had a varriety of mid 80's sleds with Mikuni carbs,
but the ones in question are 1986 safari 377s.
i am used to the jet being about 1 3/4" long(on just about every sled ive worked on)
my 86 377 is just like that, but i am helping my neighgbour work on his 86 safari 377(identical to mine) and the jet in his is about 3/8" long.
Ive never seen one so small, i dont understand jetting, so im looking for a quick rundown,
ps.. we are in the rocky mountains, i believe a fare elevation, mine runs great, his wont idle, both are single carb setups.

The jet itself is a small (3/8) screw looking thing that has a hole in the middle of it t osuck fuel up into the carb. They have different size holes (jet size) screws if you need to change jetting. The long screw types are on the older Tillotson carbs. Go to the carb cleaning tutorial in the how-to's section of this forumand you'll see a better picture of the main and pilot (idle) jets.
