99 skidoo touring le heated grips meltdown why?

Can't figure out how &where there might be a resistor or something that regulates the voltage when you have a hi & low switch for your control of your temp in the grips. Because at this point I don't know what actually caused the grips to melt down.what actually surprised me is that the wiring didn't also melt, anybody got any ideas on what the heck caused this melt down. This is a 440.

Usually happens when the voltage regulator craps out.
Do you still have lights?

Yes I do. I just replaced the head light bulb, cause I went for a short ride today after I unplugged the grip heater switch. Fired up the sled to put it in the barn and noticed the head light wasn't working. So I replaced the bulb and it works fine. I'm the second owner the original owner had to put a new stator in it, buy the way this sled only has 680 miles on it, don't know if that's a good thing or not?

You're burning out your electrical components. Your tail light it probably also burned out along with the bulbs in your gauges. Time for a new voltage regulator.
