Check for belt slippage, and that it is aligned correctly and has the proper offset to the secondary.

There is a tool that you can buy or just use a straight edge and measure offset.
You would have to check with a manual to get the right measurement.

Make sure your engine mounts are not broken as well. Clutch heat is caused by belt slippage. Is the belt new?

It's probably all glazed and slips now. The sides of the belt should NOT be all shiny.

If the belt is shiny, use a wire brush or scotchbrite pad to the edge of it to roughen up the glaze. Make sure the clutch sheave faces are clean with no belt residue and rough those up with the scotchbrite pad as well. A rough surface tends to grip better so there's less slipping.

Engine alignment issue. Did you check the mounts?
