Hello, so I have a 1997 skidoo formula III with a newer 800 triple in it is there anyway to add reverse to this beast?

You need to find a complete chaincase from a Grand Touring of the same year.

I know that newer sleds have a electric reverse meaning the engine runs backwards is this possible to add?

Anything is possible, the above mentioned method is the easiest and best way, I would assume.

Mechanical is WAY easier than electronic. You need a different stator with a timing module, wiring harness, etc.
