New to Sledding

hi there i think this is the right section for this

I'm looking at a Skidoo 800 and have no clue whats what and am hoping someone can point me the right direction or offer advice

I'm looking to purchase my own sled this summer for the upcoming winter and am looking at skidoo but I'm confused on the model breakdown i have roughly 3500 to spend on a sled and am very interested in a 2005 rev 800 adrenaline for 3000 obo 151 track some mods is this a good price? says the engine etc.. have all been maintained is that a fair price in and around that region?

also whats the difference between summit xp? rev? x?

is there something i should be looking for as all i will be doing is mountain riding?

as you can tell I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to this and want to make sure i am looking at the right style for my riding intentions

any information would be awesome thanks!

I can't help you with the skidoo stuff, but welcome to the forum!

You may want to post where you are and what kind of riding you like to do, that will help the guys narrow down their responses.

Welcome. There are a lot of questions to be asked but bottom line is, 3 is an average price for that sled. You're in a different market than I, but trade in on that sled, in good condition is around 24 US. Retail's a bit more.
I'll assume it's a Summit with the 151" track. That's what you want for riding the hills. 2 inch paddles are good as well.
If the sled is in great shape and was cared for, 2800 Canadian would be a steal for you I would think. Good luck.

well id deff go with 2in paddles. most guys you ask
will say the 800ho's are timebombs. but i say that maint
is the ans for that.
the xp's are the sport models, usually have 121" tracks,
the renegades have 136" tracks, summits have several
track sizes.

i love my doo. i do the maint on time or before due.
i also dont beat on it to badly. but love speed!!
one thing to check on every skidoo is the carb boots! ive
done mine twice in 5k miles.

PS You're looking at a 2005 so it comes on a REV chassis. The REV chassis hit the market around 2003. One can't help see the difference in appearance from 02 to 03. Advances in front and rear suspension; tunnel design and rider position to name a few.

You said it was an 800 Adrenaline. That makes it an 800 HO and either a Summit or an MX Z.

You also mentioned a 151" track. That would make it a Summit. The MX Z comes with a 121" track and is more of a trail sled.

As for the X and XP, I'm not sure. Not many folks cruising the forum this time of year so the knowledge base is limited. Cheers.

X is typically the racing asked worth mxz's or upgraded shocks with the other packages. Xp is the newer chassis hope that helps.sounds like good deal to me. Make sure to check it out thoroughly. compression wou"d be my first.point then carb boots.

Re: New to Sledding

Carb boots are the rubber boot that mounts to the engine and the carbs connect to. Skidoos are common for cracking and tearing
