I'm unfamiliar with that particular sled, however I've been told to stay away from fan sleds if you are into power at all. Other than that, it's a Doo so it should rock! That's just my 2 cents...

They are nice sleds. If your looking for the fastest in its class then then the Arctic Cat Z570 would be the choice. You can get a new one for around $4,500. Or go with a bigger Ski-Doo. The MXZ 550 fan will do around 90.

I think you will love the ReV 550 Fanner! I personally own a 600 ReV, but a friend bought the 550 your looking at this year. I took it for a test ride and thought it was extremely fun. Very light and nimble, good performance and very affordable. That 550 engine will be bulletproof for you, plus you get the Rev chassis and the SC-3 rear suspension and push button reverse! This is a great sled for newer person to the sport. It will be great in the trails, soak the bumps up like crazy and be good on gas. If I was buying a fan cooled sled, this would be the one. In the last issue on Snowgoer, they reviewed all the newer fan cooled sleds and this one came out on top.

I personally wouldn't buy a fan cooled sled. I would spend the extra on a liquid cooled sled. Tolerances on a liquid cooled sled are a lot tighter so the engine should last longer than a fan. Fans don't run as well on a warm day so a liquid wins hands down there too. If you have to have a fan though I'm sure that the rev is the best choice though since it is in the most modern chassis. The only trails that the sled will go 90 mph on are the ones in Fantasy Land.

Again YamahaVector is negative and talking out of his ass. I have personally been up to 90 on a 2002 Ski-Doo 550 fan. Thats the speedo reading. In reality it might have been going 85. The new 2005 was picked as the best deal from Snow-Tech mag. Let us know how you like it if you choose to buy one. Thanks!!

My old lady has a Legend 500 fan with precision skis, she loves it & so do I. It's light & nimble and real peppy. It'll do around 90 mph. (do you really need to go faster ?) It does not overheat in milder weather. But my liquid does overheat when the trails get too icy & hers doesn't!!!

How are the trails in Fantasy Land Locky? You say yourself that "In reality it might have been going 85." Sounds like you might be talking out of your ass!

YamahaVector, Well first of all we all do know speedos are not exact. Second is that I weigh 230lbs and so if the sled can do in reality 85 with me on it then you know damn well that sled can do 90 with a lighter person and last the conditions I was riding it on was not the best for top speed. So dont start calling someone a liar when you have know idea yourself. I know this isnt your first time having a problem with members and I noticed that you have been talked to from a moderator. Now you do the math!!!

Locky I don't care what you weigh. I disagree with you on the top speed of the 550F. I don't know why you think that I'm talking out of my ass. It is my opinion vs your opinion of this snowmobile. I think that most of the people on this site are talking out of their asses when they are making claims about HP and MPH of different sleds. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but I think that your opinion is WRONG!

Thanks for all the reply's. It's time to get rid of the 86 polaris indy and buy a new sled, so i can spend more time on the trails then in the garage. I was talking to a dealer and this sled sounded good for the money. Im fairly new to snowmobiles so im gonna look around more before I buy anything.

Thanks again

My wife's sled is a Polaris Indy Trail 500 (2-up) fan. This sled is a great sled and runs just fine. Never had a problem.

Hmm rev chassies lightweight 550 fan cooled bet its a blast to throw around. Super trax said it could keep a 600 H.O in its sights on a twisty trail. Cant be all that bad.

550 F speed

I just put the first 200 miles on my 550 Fan Rev and on the trail it will hit about 70. I would guess on the road or ice about 80 but I doubt it would be much faster than that.
This rev is very light handling and takes the corners on a dime. It is light enough to throw around making it a blast to play on. It takes the bumps like all Rev's do which is to say better than any other snowmobile makers machine out there.
It is very quick but I don't think it is the fastest machine at top end.
Compared to a liquid cooled machine this one gives off enough heat to keep you warm when it is below zero.
Overall, for the money it is the best entry level sled out there hands down!

I have a 05 mxz 550f and love it! I have approx 500 miles on it so it should be close to being broken in, if it isn't already.
My riding is country riding between trails and fields, no lake or roads or long open spaces to peg the throttle and crawl to top speed, I weigh 220.
My gas mileage is averaging 13 mpg. It has excellent acceleration from 0 to 60/65 and will hit 70/75, thats it.
The next ski doo upgrade would be a 500ss, which is a 100+ horsepower and 100 mph sled. I don't need that, my fan is an excellent sled for what it is!
