Dont know horsepower but I have a 99 doo with the same motor(at least they must be pretty close) and it is a good solid engine. Will keep up with modern 700's. Ive got 6,000 miles on mine and she still runs great.

Not for sure, but with those stats and given the model year, I would put it in the mid to high 90's for horespower.

The twin pipe 670 s were about 116 hp and could easily make more with some work.

How many hp could there be in a MXZ 670 (-97 and singlepipe). A couple less then the twinpipe?

Single pipe 670 s were about 8 hp less then the twin pipe 670. Unless it was a 670 HO this had better cylinders , valve , 44 s and made 129.5 hp very fast and still hard to beat.

You can check out various dynos on a link I posted on page 2. my 99 summit x 670 which is ho is 126.8 hp. You will also find the same motor in different models have different hp. The machs dyno tested much higher horse than the same motor in summits the 01 summit 800 is only 133, only 6 higher than my 670ho. The stock 670 has more than 90 hp, the old formula 500 has 90hp.The 05 renegade 800ho tested at only 131.04 rev summit 800 is 141.8.Thats 10 more horse, a year older and not the ho, but different model.

From what I have always heard was the singal piped 670's with the 38 carbs made around 117 hp & the 95 & 96 Mach-1's had the twin pipes , with the 44 carbs and a diffrent rotory disc & diffrent timing and made anywhere from 125-129 hp.

Yes, the 99 HO's were right up there with the 95 & 96 Mach-1 670's if not had just a little more hp. I know the 95 & 96 mach-1's had a no. 1 stamped on top of & in the middle of the head to distinguish it from the other 670's & the 99 HO's had a difrent head rotor, piston's & timing.
