Suggestions

I have a 1994 formula STX 583 and i was wondering what else i could do to get some more power out of it. currently i have a set of twin eliminator pipes by FAST and K and N air filters then i jetted it. I was thinking about taking it apart and getting the head ported and polished, possibly milled. but im not sure if that would do much. any suggestions or input would really help. Thanks

Putting money into a sled that old is a waste of time and money. Nobody makes much for it anymore. Save your money for a newer sled.

LOUD PIPES LOSE TRAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

maybe he like old sleds, or just the one he has, I know I like the older ones. I'd rather keep my oldies, not everyone wants or can get a new sled.
as fir suggestions, from what I heard porting does alot of good if done right, I personally plan on porting a 503 rotax next year to put in my Mirage. There are many different things you can do with porting such as where you want the power, or how extreme.

Porting can add a lot of power. It can also ruin cylinders if done wrong, dramaticlty decrease fuel milage, decrease piston life, make the machine harder to start and very tempermental to operate. I can go on but why bother. These are problems that you would have in a newer sled. Why would you even ask for these problems in an old sled that it is harder to get parts for. If you want a faster sled just save your money and buy one with a bigger engine. If you think you can't because you don't have enough money you're wrong. Quit wasting it on old sled that are just money pits!

I know quite a few people that modify older sleds, so give it a try. Plus parts can be cheaper for older ones (more aftermarket/used stuff available). Some things may be hard to find (pipes, etc) but you can always machine engine parts.

What do you get for milage?

I'm glad that you like to build loud obnoxious sleds that get trails closed and piss off landowners. You are everything that is wrong with the sport!

Really? I think the people who bash other guys sleds, and tell them what to get because thats what they think is the best are whats wrong with the sport. Maybe he's like me, and doesn't ride trails, just his own property, so it doesn't matter how loud it is.

The guy asked for some advice on how to make his sled make more power, so far it's just been negative, bias advice (you obviously don't agree with mod sleds, older sleds, or uncommon sleds, so of course your going to tell him that modding is bad), anyone got some positive advice for this guy???

i think that if u have a loud sled that is your choice and having a modded sled is cool because it gives us guys with stock sleds something to run against and to gives us ambishion to try and get your sleds to beat yours. and yamahavector just because u r on a yamaha and know that even a stock 2 stroke sled is going to beat you doesnt mean u have to be negative about it i think another thing there vector u have spent a little too much time watching the yamaha promo - dvd.
