TRA clutch removal, flywheel/stator removal.

I have a 96 ski doo formual sls 500. I ordered the Tra clutch removal tool from Dennis Kirk but the tool wont thread into anything, there are no threads for it to grab. The only numbers on my clutch are 480303 and 6480292 with US pat 4575363. It looks like the usual ski doo TRA clutch but the clutch bolt is much shorter than the puller and the puller isnt threading into anything. The puller is by parts unlimited # 12-164-13. Also how do I remove the flywheel and do I remove that before I remove the clutch? I have a ski-doo manual but its not very good, kinda vague, but it day say/show something about a little pin you put in the side of the engine to lock it in place.

Ive seen 2 diff clutch puller designs, one with the same part #, wtf! Skidoo TRA Clutch Puller - New Style
I think this is the one I need.
Or this one
NEW SKI DOO CLUTCH PULLER VOYAGEUR TOURING SLE LE MXZ:eBay Motors (item 230415730855 end time Jan-22-10 06:41:08 PST)

Many parts books dont even list ski doo formula sls, but its just a rotax type 494 liquid cooled. But I think Dennis Kirk steered me wrong, according to their book I ordered the right one, pn# 28-298 but since that one didnt work I think I need the 28-656.

puller

According to Dennis kirk site you have the right puller. It lists what models 12-164-13 works with. 12-164-18 is also avail. thru them. Are you sure you have a '96 motor and clutch. Does your motor have R.A.V.E. ?

Here is a link to the correct puller for a 1996 Formuls SLS- replaces SkiDoo part # 529007900

Clutch Puller

If this won't work on yours then someone has replaced the clutch.

The ports for the rave were never tapped, its just a 494 engine with rotary valve. I already have the black clutch puller, maybe I'll just buy the gold one with the threads in the middle instead of at the end.
