First thing... you picked a great sled. I battled between buying an MXZ or a Mountain Cat just last year. The Cat won as the dealer cut me a great deal and my riding style makes me more of a "Powder Seeker" than speed deamon.

If I didn't enjoy climbing hills so much, I'd have gone with the MXZ 600. I was looking at a black MXZ 600 for about $5500 last year (it was a 2002 model as well).

As far as upgrades. If you find yourself sliding out on the corners and trails, I'd go straight for the control upgrades and stud the track and get 6" carbides to bite the turns. Those are my favorite upgrades. The 600 should have plenty of power... so control becomes the biggest thing.

If you going for looks, I'd love to see yellow handguards on that sled!

Lucky snot! Welcome to the forum (and NY)!

Head North up 81 towards Pulaski. There are lots of drop spots up there, and the lake effect in that area is great! It's probably less than 20 mins. from you! Trails go forever from there!!! You could ride for days, and never cross your trail once. From Pulaski, you can get way up into the Adirondacks - the trails will even take you into Virginia.

Have fun this winter, and pray for snow!!!

i too welcome ya to the forum and also to NY i live about an 40 mins west of ya. like rgoers said head north to polaski and into tug hill area and enjoy! you should be able to get plenty of ridin' time locally due to being on the receiving end of lake effect snow,
and if you are new to the state you are in for a treat when the
lake effect kicks in, bare ground one day 12"+ the next
