93 grand touring 580

Just picked up a 93 formula grand touring 580. Its been parked for 4-5 years inside and the gas is varnished up....going through the carbs. Great compression, 2200 miles. Complete good looking sled. Anyone have any comments about these heavy sleds?? picked it up for $400 so I don't think I did too bad....

Great older sled, durable pre-RAVE engine (type 582) has a lot of power. Drive belt lasts forever compared to similar year sleds, my belt is about 2000 miles old.

Lube up the suspension and steering pivots and all should be good. Short travel suspension but works well when properly adjusted (no adjustment on ski suspension though). The rubber boots around the steering/ front suspension tend to rip up in the cold so I spray mine with silicone spray lubricant to prevent them from icing up. I replaced mine once already.

Up here, that sled would sell for about $1000 to $1500 CDN.

Check out my picture gallery (link below) to see some pics of my '94 GT.

Thanks for the reply. I got the thing home and got a chance to look it over. Pulled the carbs out of it (38mm Mikunis!!) and they were a mess. Soaked them overnight and got everything to work like its supposed to. Trailing arms are bad but thats the only real problem I see so far....Track is good, etc...

Make sure you remove and clean the pilot jets in the carbs too!

they are good to go now.....the needles/floats/etc were all locked up from bad gas. Nothing a good soaking didn't solve. Anyone have the grommet around the fuel line coming from the tank disintegrate? I out a gallon or two of gas in it to check fuel pump etc, and a gallon or two came running out because of the grommet falling apart. Better to know now I guess. $4 part

Were do you Live? I live in Sault Ontario we just sold a 89 250 tundra LT, for $625. and a 92 377 Safari that was running but rough looking with 5000 miles for $800. A nice shape Touring with 2000miles,reverse,hand warmers and a powerful liquid twin would sell for over $2000 easily.

I'm glad I don't live in your neck of the woods. Our prices are high enough as it is. The '93 GT is old PRS/C7 chassis technology and is very heavy. Well built and lasts forever but very heavy. As soon as you skip up to the 2000 chassis ('94 on some models and all '95), prices go up.
