95 Mach 1 Clutch issues...

I've got a 95 Mach 1 with ac ouple of issues that I need to get resolved...of the stranger to me is the clutch...I ran the engine without the belt on, and the primary closed and maxed at which point the little slider shoes shot out, and the I shaped roller bits (pardon my technical terms) locked out and prevented the clutch from opening again...once I put it back together, at first I thought I shouldn't have run it without the belt, but then...I've never seen that happen when I blow a belt...so anyone know whats going wrong here? I put the belt back on, and saw the same problem with a little speed (track off the ground)
Help!!

Sounds like it's not back together correctly. OnlineMicrofiche Index might show a better pic of the clutch for you.

I'll have to pull it and take it apart I guess...it came with the sled as a spare when I bought it so I don't know it's history...the clutch on the machine was broken...groan.
is there an easy way to pull the clutch without the 'tool'?
anyone got a manual for this sled?
thanks in advance, and great site!

You need the puller for it. That way you won't mess up the crank, etc.
