Is this a good deal?

Hey guys, I have come across a 2003 mxzx rev 800 spring edition , it has 11,000 miles on it but a full rebuild on the motor this year, as well as a new track and studs, new carbides and sliders. He is asking $4100 canadian for the sled and I have gotten him down to $3800 so far, I am now taking the time to think about it and may risk losing the sled if I don't act fast, so I was wondering what you guys thought of this deal??

Lose the sled! Way too many miles on the body and overpriced. I'm sorry, but I usually stay away from high mileage sleds. Even with a top end rebuild, the body must we weakened. The price would not have been high if the sled had 3,000 miles, but 11,000 is a ton of miles for a sled and past the usual lifetime.

Look over track,, ask owner how all the bearings are, drive shaft ect. look at the engine, if it looks clean i wouldnt let it worry me much! Especially cuz it was just rebuillt!

Its up to you, but I know what you mean about trying to buy a sled thats just right. I am looking for one in that year range and they all seem really high priced around here too. (Ontario)

one thing which bothers me a bit is it is a beaver tail model, kinda sucks I was hoping for a non -beaver but I can do the delete if I wanted I guess, I really don't know what to do. What is a reasonable price to be asking this guy to go down too if I decide to go for this sled in all honesty bc the rev platform and the fact I can get a fully rebuilt motor and new track/studs for under 4 grand cad is appealing to me, I was even thinking of saying straight up I will only give you $3200 for this sled, is this something reasonable? he wants 3800 from the 4100 he was originally asking. Any more input would be great

thats what they are going for around here. I bought one with 12,000 km on it and its the same sled. great condition and i got it for 3800. Ive been looking at kijiji a lot and nothing is going for lower then 4,000 even with the high kilometres. everything is over priced in ontario

My buddy has over 14,000 miles on his 03 right now and has never had to touch anything but the motor he did a top end once and a complete rebuild two years ago. these sleds are very durable and if it hasnt been abused I wouldnt worry about the higher miles. But I agree you should be able to get the price down a little more.

I think its extremly over priced. I'm not sure what the rate is right now between american and Canadian $$ or if the mileage is in Kilo or miles even with both of those factors it seems very high. An 03 REV in New York (the most expensive place in the universe) goes for $3 - $3,500 for the 600 or 800 and thats with 2000 - 4000 miles. The biggest problem lies with the fact that if you do buy it you own it tills its dead. You'll never be able to recoupe that money.

I have said it once, i have said it 1000 times, prices for Canadian sleds are about 30% MORE on average then in the US. I see guys from the states post machines on here for 500 bucks, stuff that is you know a mid-90s sled. The only way they are that cheap up here is if they have no motor for that price.
