Got one of these really cheap because the guy who owned it before pulled the shaft with the rotary valve to replace the brass gear on it. The new gear is a high performance model and it is longer than oem by about 1/2 in. My question is do I need a different spring. I don't know the technical part name but it goes over the shaft and presses everything together. Do I need a shorter spring and what effect will the longer gear have on the engine?
