Formula III bogging out...

I am new to this site but hope somebody can help me. I have a 96 Formula III 600. I spent last couple weeks getting my sled ready. Got new skis, replaced the torn seat, and last night took the carbs off and gave them a good cleaning, replaced the plugs and belt. When all was done I fired it up and it roared to live again. Still wanting to bog out after it drops down to idle and I attempt to throttle it. I thought it may have been dirty carbs but I guess not. i have a very limited knowledge of "tuning" the sled. Please offer any help you can, snow is on the way.

P.S. The sled acted similar last year at the beginning of the season, but eventually cleared up throughout the season.

Are the air screws set at 1 to 1.5 turns out from gently bottomed?

If the machine is idling smooth, at what RPM does it idle?

Did you clean the chokes as well as check the free play in the choke cable?

If you have good spark, what are your plugs gapped at?

new plugs were gapped at the ski doo dealer for me. Choke did get cleaned. It is only having problems while idling. It`ll die out. It runs strong at more than idle. I do have to feather the throttle a bit to get it up past idle but then it kicks in strong. I have no clue which is the idle screw otherwise I would attemt to adjust those...also as for the air screws again I do not know which are which. Any ideas or knowlegde or which screws to adjust and where they are located?

Air screws would be on the right side of the carb, opposite of the clutch and take a flat head screwdriver. The idle screws are on the clutch side and take a phillips head.

The idle adjust screws are the ones with the spring on them.

So other than checking the air screws for a 1.5 turn what is a good starting point for the idle screws? Or shouldn't I mess witht them, again it's only problematic while trying to get it to idle...

Okay I just pulled off the airboxes again, set the screws opposite the clutch side (very small) to 1.5 turns from seated, the screws on the clutch side (bigger and have springs) are set to six turns from seated, seems like a lot but don't want to touch them until I get word, is this normal or should I adjust one way or another? Thanks for all the replies so far, you all have been amazing help in getting this done before snow flies again!

You use the idle stop screws to set idle (preferably between 1500-1800 rpm).

okay so a 20pack of budlight and a few hours later I have got the sled idling at 1600-1700rpm anything else sounds too high, running well and even did a little paint detailing to match my new skis. Thanks to all that helped, next up...the clutch! Thanks again!

I`m not sure were gifted, special maybe as in need helmets with cool stickers...I`ll post some pics of our handy paint work. Thanks again to everybody`s input that helped me through. Thanks to the bud light for keeping us calm trying to get that pesky right side airbox back in correctly on the third try!

We could make look like a respectable snowmobile. I say we start with the ski-doo stickers. We could put on some Arctic Cat decals and play pretend!!
