help!!

so I have a dilemma to figure out. i took my sled to the shop to have some things figured out. the shop guy called me and told me there was an issue with the studs. I bought this sled used a month ago. he said the guy who studded it did it wrong in the sense the studs now line up with the tunnel protectors. when you look at them you can see a noticeable amount of wear and they are VERY chewed up. he is telling me i need to take out the studs as 1. the tunnel protector is gonna get ripped out and then expose the heat exchanger. 2. the stud may get stuck in the tunnel protector and risk getting ripped out of the track. is he correct in that i should just take the studs out? I have a 2003 mxz rev

the other thing I'm wondering is how much traction will i lose taking out the studs?

Well if it is going to chance ripping into the heat exchange, then something best be changed.

You will loose traction, but it depends what sort of riding you are going to be doing as to how much it will affect it. Will it be trail, lakes, mountain, deep snow, boondockin'...???

Better to lose a bit of traction than to poke holes in your heat exchanger...

Exactly, and in the area that the riding will be done, you do not need studs, alot of guys in SW Ontario do not use studs...

studs are basicly for ice if you race on ice whoever has the most studs wins(my dad used to cross country and lake race) but other than on lakes you dont need them.
