The only difference is the 96 motor prolly doesnt have rave valves, but the 97 might have rave valves. I dont think it makes a difference in cans tho. But I dont recommend cans, they are noisey, and most trails go through rural areas, and it ends up making owners of the land mad. And besides, it might qualify you for your very own specail issued TICKET. With your nameon it... Just dont be smart and ask whic movie it is for....

ummm the 96 does have teh rave valves. mmm around this area it's jsut ditch banging and no one cares if teh sled is loud in my town. and i have yet heard of anyone around here being handed a ticket. but idk if i wanna blow the 250 bucks on a can. and sorry i didnt get picks got home and it was dark tomarrow fur sure!

that sled is nice! mileage is very low for the age, track looks excellent, and it looks in great condition! Great buy and enjoy the coming season with your new sled!

My 97 Formula 500, unfortunately doesnt come with the rave valves.
But yet they had em on the 98 Formula 500, and previous older models.
I run 96 studs, and I have unbelieveable traction.

Just depends how u ride.. my sled recommends 96 for safety. and 120-144 for an agressive trail rider

Thanks. O yeah i do ride aggresive the wildcat just couldnt handle the way i ride hopefully this sled will be good for me. The wildcat kept breaking down last year and i had enough of it. so hoping this sled won't be such a problem child lol
