electical issue- mxz 440

hey guys,

I got my sled out of storage today and was getting it ready to sell, sled ran and ideled great, the problem- none of my electrical was working, including my guages and lights. all visible adaptors were conected and no wires were chewed through. any ideas?

What year is it? Did you have any reaction from the sled when you pressed the brights? Can you get the headlight to light up (even a little) when you rev it up? If so, its probably the relay, swap it out for a new one.

its a 1999 mxz 440. i didnt get anything out of the head light

Hmm, not sure if the relay problem goes back that far, but it very well could... I know A LOT of Doos had this issue, mine was doing the same thing. Sometimes it would bog down, some times it wouldn't and the controls would act all screwy. A bunch of people told me it was the relay so I picked up about 10 of them and tried them all, didn't work...it ended up being a $500 stator! I know the relay does cause the same problem though.

ok i will look into both of thoughs, my local sled shop said they can diagnose the problem for $130 i think ill look into the relays first. thanks for all the help

Not problem, the relays are small, about 1" x 1" and located up under the frame of the sled by the intake, probably zip tied to the frame. Google skidoo relay issue and you'll be able to pull up several NAPA part #s for them.
