etec 600 Rengade 2009 problems

I'm just wondering if I got a lemon or this problem has occured with other etec 600 engines. I had 700 miles on my sled when it just stopped running on a trail in northern Minnesota. Tried to get it started for better part of an hour but the sled would have none of it. Luckily my son was with and towed me 17miles back to our cabin with his 1996 Artic cat 440 fan. Ahem. A humbling experience with a brand new machine. I took it to the dealer and they had to replace the piston, (scuffed) rings, cylinder (Scored), bearings, and both spark plugs on the clutch side of the engine. The dealer claimed sometimes the tolerences are to tight from the factory and that could have caused this to happen. I haven't heard a story like mine before and was wondering if anyone had any similar problems cause if something like this happens again, I'm dumping this sled pronto.

I just read an article on another site, that BRP is aware of a problem with some of the 600's. It seems the Piston skirt to cylinder wall clearance was too tight on some assy engine production line motors..assuming the dealer followed the MFG's service bulletin, you should be just fine from here on...!

warm it up

make sure you warm it up all of the way before giving it any rpms or putting any strain of the motor. this can damage or ruin the engine.
