8,500 Miles on 500 fan,should I panic?

I bought this great condition 500 fan SLE touring off this old couple who just liked to groom trail ride this was the wifes machine with 7500 miles. I have owned it for 3 years now and it runs perfect and has 125psi in each cylinder and now that it has 8500 miles I,m just getting nervous.

I mean 8500 miles! How long can this motor go for?

Juice is right. Those motors are great. They haven't change much since they had them in the old blizzards.

Thats, I need the encouragement. I never rode a recreational toy with so many miles on it. Don,t want to be the person everyone has to tow home.

You are smart to start thinking about it now before problems develop. Is that 8500 miles or kilometers? If it's 8500 miles, that is 13600 km, time for a look-see. If it's 8500 km, you can probably wait 'till 10000 km.

Being that it was trail ridden only, there is less chance that the engine swallowed gobs of powder snow and probably was not driven too hard. On the other hand if it was a slower driver's sled, it may have sucked in enough snow dust from the lead sleds to cause some slightly accelerated wear. either way, yes this engine has a good reputation for a long life.

I believe it is still fine for more seasons to come, but a quick check-up at a local dealer every once in a while doesn't hurt.

Like Ultra Frozen said, check and make sure its not Kilometers. On the back of the speedometer, theres a gear reduction box, with two plug ins. One being MPH, and the other being KPH. Mines a formula also, and it was always plugged into Kilometers till I found out this summer. Make sure yours isnt plugged into KPH.

Which would be a good thing if it is...
