skid on formula z help????
ok,,
I just did all bogies, put a new shock in the back and also new springs. The springs I bought from Royal.
The sled is a 1996 Formula z, with stock SC10 suspension.
My question is, the suspension does not spring back up into position. I have it set on the highest position and it does not go all the way back up?
When I sit on it it goes way down, then springs back up 60% of the way. I can lift the back up to the top another 3 or 4 inches???????
totally confused????

That is completely normal. All the sleds suspension is designed to have sag built into it. The design is so that when the sled goes over a bump in the trail or a dip rather. The suspension drops, and not the rest of the sled. Really a clever concept. They do the same thing in dirt bikes also.

ok,,,I know how a Shock works,,,I guess I am not coming across correctly..I sit on it and it goes down so far the snow flap almost touches the ground. It sags like 5 to 6 inches. Should the springs not keep it up more. I think maybe Royal has a bad set of springs?

Well it all depends... It could be a variable of factors. I think my flap sits like 3 inches off the ground. Id have to check tomorrow.
But it depends on what the spring is rated atin LBS, and what the original spring was rated at in LBS. It also depends on rider weight. And like you said, could be bad set of springs, but is unlikely.
My guess is maybe the royal spring is TOO LIGHT of a spring in this case. But I could be wrong.

I think Royals are to light.
Last question, would it be possible to put springs from a touring model sc10 97-2000. I assume they would be higher rated spring rate. I also assume that they may be longer, but could they be cut slightly to shorten them to fit???? Am I off in left field here???
Thanks

Those are the mxz springs, they are of a smaller wire diameter(0.406"). The larger wire diameter(0.440") spring numbers are
04-445-01
04-445

Stangcrusin,,,thank you so much
I put in the Royal 04-445-01 and 04-445,,they are .440 compared to the regular .406 royal sold me. The skid is perfect now,,comes right back up and squats down the right amount...Your the best my friend thank you so much. Any of you guys under 150lbs, I think the regular .406 ones will work. If your over 150lbs go with the .440, what a difference!!!
