2000 mach maintenance
Hello everyone,
I just bought a 2000 ski-doo mach z 800cc triple. I did not get a manual and was unable to download one from the stucky above (no computer, I access SF from my blackberry).
I was hoping someone could share some regular maintenance that is to be done to the sled. I'm pumped for this season of riding, I just want to be sure when the snow falls,
My sled will not be dissapointing me. I was told the sled is stock, new track, carbide runners, 10000km. Everything looked in order when I checked it out at the dealer. So let's hear it!
Is there anything that I need to look-over in particular(I will be giving the entire thing a check-over) or should I just start polishing them triple pipes?
Thanks!

Grease all the fittings in the front/rear suspension, check the chaincase oil, check the carbides on the skis for wear, track tension, etc. ALWAYS let that triple warm up before you hammer on it! They can cold seize if you go too fast with them.

x2, you can never stress to people to let two strokes warm up. Too much warm up time is MUCH better than too little.

Ok so are we talking 5mins? 10mins? Until the temperature guage rises to a certain level?
Thanks for the help so far and keep it coming! I will post pics of the sled in a few weeks once I get them, and load them up.

It has been serviced at the dealer scince new, and is being 'checked out' buy the shop b4 they deliver it to me. I will give them a call tomorrow asking them what exactly they have gone over, but will still feel more comfortable if I was to see the condition of all the parts with my own eyes.

It depends on how cold it is outside. I usually start min and let it idle for about 5 mins give a little more. And ill usually take it easy the first cpl miles. Then after that you should be good. Happy Trails!!!

Thanks for the offer stang' if I had a pickup and some time I'd be there.
Ok so not really maintenance but it could lead to it: I have been reading a lot over the past days and have read that its not healthy to ride at a constant speed (60-70mph). I have read to continually vary the rpm's.
Can someone explain this to me? Something about EGT(what's this)?? Basicly I would like to know if I can cruise or if this is a zero or wide f' open machine?

EGT stands for Exhaust Gas Temp... Two strokes, all of them you should constantly vary the speed. You can accelerate hard, and go fast in short spurts. But dont lay on it for a long time. In a two stroke there is A TON of wear, because the motor is firing everytime, compared to a 4 stroke.
If you lay on it for a long time, you run the risk of frying the motor. Due to rising temperatures inside the motor, and will lead to seizing. The piston expands and locks up on the cylinder wall otherwise.
So long story short, just dont hammer on it for long periods of time.

Thanks skidoo86. Last thing I want to do is fry the engine on the new to me sled. If all goes well this season I'm thinking of re-ringing in the spring/summer for piece of mind for seasons to come.
