stud questions

when studding a track...do i measure the lug from inside or the outside of the track and lets say the track is 3/4" lug what is the most i want to go over in terms of stud length

Lug is measured from outside the track and stud should not exceed 1/4" longer than the lug height.

so this is what i did i took a board and placed on top of the lug and measured to the inside of the lug wellor the contact side of thye track...is this right or do i go tothe inside or slide side of the trasck for an overall measurement

You need to go to the very inside of the track as the thickness of the track itself needs to be included in the length.

I agree with RJ, measure from outside of the track to get the depth of the stud. Because as you tighten down the stud it pulls the stud up to flush with the track. Studs arent a exact length they add extra length already.
My track is roughly between 5/8 and 3/4 measuring outside of the track. And I put 1 inch studboy gold diggers, and they exceed my track by 3/8 inch almost. OOPS on my part, I was a newb at the time.
And they are aggressive as heck. Almost wish I put 7/8 inch studs in, might of improve ride on ice.
