clutch slip?

'96 MXZ 583 and it runs really well, carbs cleaned, etc. noticing that when its under load the clutch seems to be slipping because it takes off but then its like the belt is slipping then re-engages, then slips, etc... I thought it was a belt issue and replaced with a new one cause the old one was hard and worn on the sides but its still doing it. Also the clutch is engaging at 4500rpm is that normal? My others engage around 3500.
Any ideas or does the clutch need to be rebuilt?
Thanks

Needs cleaning on the sheave faces and probably internally as well.
Also look for a possible broken spring.

What is best to use for cleaning them? Is 4500rpm to engage high? seems like it to me but not sure if that is normal on the MXZs

It's slightly high, it could be binding up./ Use brake cleaner toi spray them down and compressed air to get all the junk out.

Anyone know where I can get a 583 clutch puller? I looked at the usual places and only find the ones that are for every other sled except the 583!!
