Question '96 583 oil injection and start problems

I am new to this engine/sled (mxz) and am working on getting it in shape for the fall. Two issues: 1) the thing floods if you look at it wrong (both plugs wet, have spark) but won't start even if I don't prime it or touch the throttle and the plugs come out soaked. I have read other posts and am going to tear apart the carbs and check the fuel pump but if you have any other suggestions please let me know.
2) While messing with the starting, pulling plugs, etc. I saw that on the rare occassion I could get it going the clutch side cylinder plug was dead clean, no oil residue on it at all, just gas. I stopped running it as soon as I saw this. The other cylinder plug looks normal with residue on it. From what I can see there is one oil line going into the injection manifold so I'm confused how only one cylinder can be getting oil. Any ideas?
Thanks

The plug is fouling out too soon to get any residue on it. Don't EVER mess with the oiler; they are very simple systems and almost NEVER fail. Clean the carbs, that'll solve your problems.

I agree that it shouldn't be messed with unless necessary but I ran it for 10 minutes and there was nothing on the plug but gas, shouldn't there have been at least a trace of oil mixed in there to like on the other plug? I just don't want to burn it up if there is a problem.

The mag side always runs colder than the PTO side.
That's why that plug will always be a little blacker than the other one.

If there is fuel on the plug, then it's probably fouled out. The plugs should be completely dry.

Wow. I tore the carbs apart to clean them up and low and behold the one side didn't have a pilot jet in it!!! That pretty much explains why the thing wouldn't idle. I knew I was getting too good of a deal on this sled!! Hopefully that solves several issues.

fortunately it's a cheap fix though.
