Check for air leaks, particularly around the carb flanges and crank seals.

Took it out again this afternoon (14 inches of snow and still going) and it ran great and I left it sit and run for a little bit just to see and after about 5 minutes the idle dropped from 4000 down to 1800 then after another couple of minutes it dropped down to about 1000. If it was an air leak it at the crank or carbs wouldn't it stay high and not drop? I'm going to tear into it this weekend again but just seems strange that it would step down like that.

see if your slides (in the carb) are getting stuck up or gummed up

got the new clutch on and regaped the plugs to aroun .030, reset the air screw to 1.5 turns out, cut down and redid the plug caps and am now getting a nice DRY cardboard burn on the plugs! It is still boggy but I test drove it when it was about 55 degrees out (got to love Colorado!). Question is would the air temp make it bog and not be real crisp on the throttle?

Yes, the other thing would be to have the clutches serviced.
