Hey,
I just had my sled out for a drive today and it died on me. The thing was working fine, had it out yesterday for about 4 hours with no problems

Anyways, I was going along and the sled started bogging down on me so I brought the sled to a stop and it started back firing like crazy.. I replaced the spark plugs, started it up and it was going fine again. I then took the sled back out for a bit and it started bogging down on me again, but this time when I let go of the throttle the engine just stopped. Now when trying to start (pull over) the sled, its making this weird clicking/ticking noise

Its nothing to do with the pistons/rings because I did a compression test and both sides are running 125/130 and there is plenty of spark coming from the plugs/wires.. I will mention that it still makes the noise when pulling it over with no plugs in. I can't think of anything, maybe a bearing in the crank/cam? ..someone also mentioned that it could be the rotary valve? haha I'm new to this so any help would be greatly appreciated

Any Ideas, let me know
Thanks!

Hey,
I have taken the plugs out and tried pulling it over and it is still making the noise, it sounds like its coming from the engine, but then again it sounds like its just the pull cord.

I was able to get the sled turned back on for about a minute before it quit on me again but for the whole minute it was making the clicking/ticking noise that I was talking about. I'm thinking that it is a bearing in the crank... ugh! haha

Any ideas how much this would cost/how long it would take to replace?

Thanks!

What octane gas are you running in that? I would run 89 or higher. My ZR was doing the same thing when i first got it turns out the guy was running 87 so i drained that out and put in 92 and it goes great.

Hey guys!

The clicking/ticking noise is actually pretty loud and never happened until now. I took the plugs out and tried turning the clutch manually to see if I could still hear the noise (in case it was something to do with the pull cord) and the noise is still there, like I said, its pretty loud... I don't believe now that it is a bearing because there is no play in the crank and the ticking is always the same length apart.. I'll have to make a video of it and throw it on youtube to show what I mean haha

After reading on it though, I think it might be the rotary valve due to the fact that it started backfiring before shutting off and if you listen for the click, it sort of sounds like its coming from the front of the engine.. also, if the timing was off this would cause it to backfire.. right? haha I don't know too much about these but from reading, that is what I have come to

Let me know, Thanks!
