Advice on some sleds?

hey, im looking at buying two used sleds, for back country( im a snowboarder and some of the best boarding around here is up at the tops of our mountians) would be riding on old logging roads and deep powder

ive come aross two sleds that i think have been the best deal ive seen for a while(and since winter is approaching i dont want to start winter without asled)... first sled is a2001 Summit 800 with 850 miles excellent condition rarely used and has Simmons Flexi Skis and 144 track for $2,750, this would be the sled im using, im 185lb would be pulling two snowboards and all our gear through lots and lots of powder

the other sled is a 2001 Summit 600 450 miles like new condition, hardly used with a 144 track my friend would be riding this one also for $2,750

was looking at buying them both, these sleds work for what i want them for?

and on a later date would i be able to purchase a new larger track?

any advice would be nice, i dont want to buy them and take them out and find out i wasted like 5grand.

thanks

they sound pretty good.. but why buy two?. you can only ride one at a time... as for a bigger track do you mean larger lugs or a LONGER track.. if you want a longer track you might as well spend that 5 grand on a 05 summit on the rev platform with a 162 inch track.. might as well get one that will suit your needs than two that you will need to upgrade.

hey, thanks for the reply

i was going to get the second smaller one so i would always have another sled a friend could ride with me... but i think i might pass on the two and just get the larger one, undecided on that atm

my main concern is, would that 800 with the 144 track get me my friend and all our gear to where we want to go.. wont be riding on groomed trails or anything like that, powder the whole way there on old logging roads then straight up the to the peak of the mountian..

we used a 1996 polaris 600 a few years ago and it did decent until we got to the real deep snow and it wouldnt go any further.

also this would be my first sled and my first time riding

or should i hold out and hope i come across one with a longer track before winter?

i think the 800 would be better for the deeper snow being that it has more power then the 600. but if i were you i would just hold out for a bigger sled..with a 162 in track you wouldn't have any problems

Where exactly are you looking to ride/drive these things?

I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6...

The snowboarders I've seen ride two on a sled. One boards down and the other uses the sled to pick him up. If this is what your doing the 600 might be too small. The 800 would be a better choice.

thanks for all the advice guys.

sleds would be driven in the back country on old loging roads, for like 15-20 miles of powder around 5+feet deep on old roads... then up the mountian to the top so we can board all that un touched powder. i weigh about 180 and my friend around 150... plus a little pull along thing carrying our boards and a shovel and other things in case shit goes wrong out there

im just going to be buying that 01 800 ive decided, i just want to be sure that this sled would be able to get us there... ive never owned my own sled.. so this would be my first and is in my price range... ive been looking around reno/nevada chico and sacramento for sleds and i havnt had much luck in the $3,000 range with real low miles... and i think 01 800 sled in near mint condition, with 850 miles for $2,750 is a good deal
