and the winner is 2004 GSX 600 carb.. any thoughts

Hey Guys,
Well its been a long painful process but I finally got my upgraded sled for the new season and beyond.. at least for now. I didn't get to do a ton of research on this model but from what I found out and this particular one I felt it was one of the better sleds of my choices and I feel like it was worth the anxiety of waiting it out and letting some other options go by. It is a 600 carb with some upgrades on the mirror mounted side panels and windshield. Sled has 2500 miles and all the suspension has been gone over. Sled is extremley clean and well maintained. The only thing is that I've heard some pros and cons on the front shocks cause there not rebuildable. Other than that does anyone know of anything to keep an eye on with this model.
Cheers!
Snow is just a couple months a way!!!

Great sled. Shocks should hold up well under normal conditions. Congrats!

Congrats on the new sled... The GSX would be my choice also if I was to upgrade just a comfotable sled for the long haul and powerful 600 can really scoot when you want it to.

Nice sled! First thing to check is the carb boots for delamination. You will have to take them off to check. Flex them alittle and look for cracks (inside). If cracked, replace them. The other thing I would do if it hasn't been done already is float the secondary ($30). Will cut down on friction between the belt and clutch sheaves extending the life of the belt and saving ALOT of belt dust under the hood. If riding in alot of powder or possibly heavy, wet snow, put a prefilter ($10) on over the existing filter element to keep moisture out of the system to eliminate water getting to the cylinders. Check the A-arm bushings, the stock Doo ones are junk. Lift front of sled and wiggle around on the upper and lower A-arms looking for slop. If excessive slop, replace with brass bushings (~$70). Check compression and then keep an eye on it by checking from time to time. 2003/2004 had problems with rings flaking. Don't let any of this discourage you, your stuff may be fine. You have a great sled and you will love it!
